What it means to THRIVE

What it means to THRIVE

I coined a word years ago. It’s my own thing/idea about how I live. I shared it with someone last night for the first time and it was received enthusiastically, and encouraged to share it with others. Thrival. Thrive+ al This is what happens when we/I go BEYOND survival. I know many people feel like they’re just getting by right now. They’re surviving. Or they have survived some truly difficult things in life. Trauma, abuse, assault, ruin, loss, hardship, health issues, etc. We all have had to overcome situations and difficulties in life. I’ve absolutely had my share. Some of the most painful for me happened young. One example is that I was kicked out at the age of 16. I’ve been “on my own” ever since. Here’s where Thrival comes in: When faced with difficult circumstances and the crucible they provide, I have found ways to come out on top. Those things have made me who I am. A Thrivalist. I didn’t just “survive.” I freaking worked through, found the lessons, dug deep AF, confronted my $hit, and ROSE like a muthereffing PHOENIX. Each time was an opportunity to grow and go beyond what I thought possible, reach beyond my expectations of myself, and gain more out of life. And my life is extraordinary. I’ve come to see that when it’s get tough, things fall apart, $hit hits the fan, and problems occur, they happen for important reasons. Those things are often opportunities to RISE and grow, heal and move on. Die to what is or was. And be reborn to a new vision/version. Thrive is one of...
My Personal Manifesto

My Personal Manifesto

In 2014 I wrote something of a manifesto. Reading through it again today I find it still fits in many ways. Have you ever written something like this? . . . As your friend I want what is best for you, and for you to be happy and healthy in all ways. Always. As your Priestess know that I am at ease with being your catalyst – wherever that may lead. Hopefully to your highest self and best good. May I propel you towards your deepest desire and innermost dreams – however difficult they may be to attain. May I invoke in you an unending need to delve, to know, to change & grow, to soar – towards attainment and to feel every feeling and embrace each process along the way. I will help you to be more present in your choices and in the moments that truly count – Not checked out through drugs, alcohol, sugar, food, sex…. Or anything else. I will call you out from all those places where you hide from life, from yourself, from Truth. And I will show you the mirror so that you may gaze upon that which you need to see. As your lover I am at ease with the outcome. Even if that means you are no longer part of my life. I give gratitude for your presence in my life and to you for showing me more of what I want and do not want in my life and relationships. For you are a catalyst as well. My God and my Priest. You show me the way to my...
Self Care During Intensity

Self Care During Intensity

So many people are struggling and asking what they can do to help with this intense AF energy and facilitate their heart-expansion. As you read through my recommendations, note how much of this is simply doing what’s real and true, as well as how many times I’ve repeated the same advice over the years. This is not necessarily new information. It’s being echoed in order to be reinforced. Most of these things are integral to living a healthy, spiritual life. These suggestions are also useful in finding balance and bringing you back to/towards center when things are “off.” In no particular order… Meditate. This is a key that unlocks your potential. This is especially how you tune in to your inner wisdom. If you’re not already doing this regularly, now is a great time to begin. Rest. Get outside and relish in fresh air, sunshine, and the beauty of nature. Hug a tree. Lay on the ground. Look up at the sky. Move your body. Seriously, this is part of how we move stagnant energy. I’m not telling you to punish your body at the gym. I’m telling you that walking, hiking, dancing, yoga, love-making, etc., are joyful ways to move and crucial to overall health on absolutely every level of your BEing. Eat healthy, real foods – fruits, veggies, protein. Drink lots of water. And some herbal tea. Nettle is great right now. Get some Greens in your body. Things like kale, spinach, algae, chlorophyll, etc., will help your body integrate the new energy that’s downloading. These things raise your vibration. Sing, drum, scream, howl…. also ways to...
Heart Connection

Heart Connection

The people who are destined to meet and come together to hold the planet in a container of Love, Truth, and Healing, are meeting up. It’s a time of connection, and of deepening the intimacy in your current relationships of all kinds. Especially intimacy in the relationship to yourself. Heart-opening and activation are flooding the third dimension from the cosmos. This flooding is also flushing out many old programs and can feel confusing. Bear with it, as things settle, the clarity starts to set in. There are many circumstances where you may think you have the answer, or figured something out. Then – in a moment – EVERYTHING shifts. And you find yourself somewhere altogether different. It’s intense. And beautiful. It’s an incredibly POWERFUL time. Pay attention to who, where, and how people and situations are showing up in your life. Check-in and ask yourself some questions: How did this person/these people/this situation enter my life – what was the framework? Why did we meet now? What are we here to do? How does this feel in my body? Is this something I truly want? Or is this to show me what I do not want? How did my thinking and intentions bring this into being? Do I feel/think/know differently now? If I’m honest with myself, does this (person, place, situation) really align with my highest integrity? Why? Why not? How can I live in the fullest integrity possible at this time? Is it time to act? Or time to sit and *listen*? Do I have all the answers I need? Am I clear? Does this feel like Yes?...
Being Empathic – Fundamentals

Being Empathic – Fundamentals

Some things to know about Empaths and being empathic. It’s crucial to be grounded in your body, and practice feeling where you and your energy leave off, and another’s energy begins. That’s a boundary. Being all up in your headspace makes this challenging. If or when you absorb someone’s energy, transmute it by giving it to Mother Earth. She uses it like psychic compost. Another favorite is fire – it purifies and transmutes. We must make it a habit not to take on the energy of others. When we do, we obliterate their and our sovereignty. Bear in mind that taking on the pain, feelings or energy of another in no way helps them. It just means you both now feel crappy. Plus, you’re essentially trying to take responsibility for how they feel. Doing so takes away their own responsibility and therefore their individual power. Taking responsibility for how another feels, doesn’t grant you the ability to “fix”, “solve”, or “heal” their pain. In truth, it’s an act of codependency. It’s also an act of narcissism; you’re making their feelings/pain/etc., about YOU. As Empaths we must be aware and diligent about our own energy and boundaries. We are sensitive and get overwhelmed easily. We also burn out easily. Empaths’ sensitivity typically means that chemicals in foods and drink, drugs, medications, cleaning agents, perfumes, personal care products and all others you can think of, have a greater effect. That is to say substances like alcohol, sugar, caffeine (to name a few) have a much stronger affect our bodies and energy. We are not able to process them as easily. We...
Love is Darkness

Love is Darkness

Venus Retrograde “Could you stand to let me Love your demons? The beast within Rendered tame by One gaze upon Pure love Would you fall apart completely If I loved all your nastiest secrets? Broken open, My touch soothing Every sharp, jagged pain You possess Would your heart run away From love’s unflinching witness? All your self-loathing crimes Looked upon through love’s gaze Compassion becomes your Sentence and redemption Could you surrender your burdens Long enough to be worshiped? Your scars and aches, blemishes and flaws Laid bare Your body the altar Upon which I fervently pray Would you run away if I told you I see your treasure? Lying in the murky depths Of your most ruined places Ancient, buried, forgotten Let’s cherish the journey of excavation Have you ever truly seen Your own terrible beauty? My light will shine upon The mirror so you may look Our eyes feasting upon your magnificence May we bow in reverence” ~ Lisa C. Adams, March 2017 Photo by Mina Habibi, Portrait...
Sovereign AF

Sovereign AF

If you are truly interested in claiming your personal power, you must claim your Sovereignty. Doing so means a great deal and is an exercise in integrity. It tells the universe that you mean business and you’re not fucking around. 👑 It’s things like finding your authentic voice – not parroting others. 👑 It’s doing your own work, according to your special talents and passions – not modeling yourself after what society says, or what others want you to be. 👑 It’s devotion to Truth – Universal Truth, and your personal truth – not compromising who you know yourself to be. 👑 It’s claiming ownership of your knowledge, lessons, hardships, triumphs, etc., in an embodied way – it’s not thinking that only magic and intentions take you where you want to be. 👑 It’s putting in the work in the 3D time-space continuum; earning your bonafides is the most powerful act of magic imaginable. 👑 It’s devotion to your teachers, crediting them and honoring them for all they’ve taught you. You stay in integrity as a student and someone who desires to lead when you do this. 👑 It’s realizing you are responsible for your reality and the consequences of all your thoughts, words, and actions. 👑 It’s paying homage to the traditions, the bodies of work, the lineages, your ancestry, etc., that inform who you are, and the people who shared a particular thing/book/saying/insight with you that made an impact. 👑 It’s understanding that you are you, and I am me, and they are them, and that while we are All One, we each have our own unique...
Lush, Wet, Fertile

Lush, Wet, Fertile

As we gaze upon Mother Earth at this time, may we remember that She is everything we touch, see, feel, hear, smell, taste, experience… May our gratitude and reverence for Her be eternal. For without Her, we simply would not be. Everything we have comes from Her. Through Her. She nourishes and provides. She is Earth, Moon, Water, fiery passion, the very air we breathe, And yet, Her astonishing beauty takes our breath away. Especially now – at Her most fertile – the height of Her fecundity. She blossoms, exposing Her desire. Flirtatiously flaunting her fragrant flowers. Shameless in Her glory and desire for love and fulfillment. Observing Her, we come to know ourselves more profoundly: Our primitive selves understanding the need to blossom and ripen in Spring and Summer, then to shed and stand naked in Autumn and Winter. She sets an example that society would shame: That is being ourselves, loving ourselves, EMBODYING our most authentic selves Without apology. That in so doing, we bless Her and each other, stirred to soar to new heights and growth. Witness Earth and She witnesses us. Photo by Mia...
Pain Loves You

Pain Loves You

What does it take before you give in to the pain? The pain of not feeling good. Of shame and guilt. The pain of depletion. Or the pain of destroying your relationships. What about the pain of a body wracked with health issues? The pain of burden from taking on too much – work, worry, lies, other people’s stuff…. When do you give into the pain and make it your ally? Pain is a Guide. Pain exists to get your attention. It points to the thing(s) that need your attention. The things that need to change in order for you to live your life in fullness. When pain arises, it’s a heads up, an invitation to go deep within and heed its call. Pain invites you to listen. Pay attention. Witness. Notice. Be *Present*. Become aware. Whether it’s an addiction Unhealthy habits or behaviors Not being honest with yourself Staying stuck in a job, relationship, or situation that drains you Not taking care of your body Temple Giving your power and sovereignty over to a boss, doctor, partner, parent, government… Numbing out won’t help you. It prolongs the pain. Numbing turns pain into sickness, depression, anger, sadness, disgust, shame, guilt, cancer (actual or cancerous thoughts.) Ultimately numbing is sabotage. How are you going to listen to the Truth of your pain? How can you love it for the wisdom it provides? I can honestly say that pain has helped me to turn things around in my life. It’s helped me come to realize that I had/have health issues that require my attention and changes. It helped me put an...
Venus Retrograde

Venus Retrograde

Venus went Retrograde last Wednesday for 40 days and 40 nights. ✨Pro tip – this is a bad time to make big investments, change your appearance, or get into a new relationship you want to be longterm (great for a fling, though. 😉) I repeat: Don’t cut all your hair off or do anything drastic to alter your appearance. Take time and be patient about major investments or cash outlays. If you still want the thing after Venus goes direct, DO IT. It is a good time to revisit/review/renew love relationships. If you marry while Venus is Retrograde, you invite a certain amount of Shadow Work into your Union. While that’s the case with all relationships, it’s intensified and probably more challenging to work through under this transit. And, it can also be a time of challenge for relationships. Crisis is fertile ground for breakthrough. 🌸Indulge in pleasurable experiences. 🌸Treat yourself as your most beloved. 🌸Tell people how much you love them. 🌸Clean and redo your home and altar. 🌸Spend time in or near the water. 🌸Create art, beautify your surroundings, dress up in a way that makes you feel good. Venus cordially invites you to work with her to further your awareness and bring your Shadows to Light. You can do so willingly, or kicking and screaming. The choice is yours. ⚡️💖🖤💖⚡️ Photo by Mina Habibi, Portrait...

Apocalyptic

That tender-heartedness, that aching inside you. Those places where you want to cry, scream, thrash…. Those are the places where you may be holding on too tight. There’s pain in the struggle to hold tight, but there’s freedom, catharsis, and fresh, new energy waiting when you let go. That tenderness may even be the openness you feel as the walls and barriers come down – the thawing of frozen energy that has surrounded your heart for far too long. Or the shedding of scales that covered your eyes to Truth. Welcome the tenderness. Say yes to the devastation and demolition of old constructs. Breathe through it all. Stay empty for a while. Give yourself permission to be ok with that discomfort. You will survive. You may even thrive. Newness and freedom beckon to you. Freedom that’s born of sovereignty. Open up to Truth. Call out what is Real. Celebrate what is Just and lift it up for all to behold. Look closely at what is corrupted and NEVER forget how it looks and feels. The putrid smell… Get used to not knowing, let go of certainty. Control is manipulation and you’re no longer playing that game. Normal was a fallacy they spoon-fed us from birth. There’s no security what is decaying. Facades are dissolving in our midst. Complacency is no longer an option. Life will never be the same. And that is a wonderful thing. ~ Lisa C....
It doesn’t feel good anymore

It doesn’t feel good anymore

It doesn’t feel good anymore. I’ve been inside the realms of tantra, spirituality, and self-awareness – those thing that supposedly catalyze growth – for a very long time. (Longer than most) As I see posts from others in the community, posts offering insights and challenges, I’m not *feeling* it anymore. Answers aren’t exactly clear right now. Many feelings are surfacing that I’ve not made sense of yet. I keep looking for ::more:: Something fresh and new. Something authentic and activating. But I don’t see or feel those things being offered. It feels hollow. Empty AF. It’s not just me. I am clear that many so-called teachers and experts are asserting ideas and narratives that wreak of dogmatism. While I get that the things that previously brought us joy or succor aren’t exactly doing that any longer, I wonder why I feel a lack of joy, an absence of connection, an emptiness, feelings of “that does not resonate” and “same old, same old.” Preaching to a choir of those who will listen; those who are unsure enough to overthink and question themselves. Repeatedly. Please hear me! You don’t have to follow the “code” or buy into a limited way of thinking. You don’t don’t need anyone to tell you how to behave, how to heal, how to find love, how to understand, how to BE. You/we are much more powerful than that. Too many are taking the things I love and hold most dear – the very studies and practices I hold precious – and making them finite and absolute. That’s not Tantra. That’s not true spirituality or mysticism. It...

Grace in the Space

One of the most important lessons life has taught me is this – Don’t be in such a rush to fill the empty spaces in life. Instead see them as the gift they are – opportunities to reflect, restore, replenish, re-evaluate, rest, play, dream…. When everything is falling apart or blowing up around me, I’ve learned not to look at it as if it’s a problem. It’s truly opportunity. Possibilities lie therein. Life will hand us space when it’s time to shift, or when something important is trying to surface. I’ve learned to honor those spaces so that if or when the time comes to fill them, only that which truly belongs filter through. Shifting or reframing my perspective, finding the moment of growth. Asking, “What is trying to be born here?” And staying open, confused, bewildered. UNCOMFORTABLE AF. Feeling all of the pressure. Witnessing my own anxiety and fear. Going deep beneath the surface. That’s the space where the miracle, the shift in perspective can happen. Then staying open and flexible and watch in amazement as things open up. It took me 40-some years to learn what it means that “patience is a virtue.” There’s Grace in the space. ~Lisa...

Your Fear of Death

The Collective fear and awareness of Death is in part due to the Great Conjunction of Jupiter, Pluto, and Saturn in Capricorn. 🌀Jupiter expands, magnifies. 🐍 Pluto is death, Shadow, the Underworld realms. Also, rebirth, facing fears. 🪐 Saturn is time, structures, limitations, boundaries, patriarchy. 💥 Mars is approaching them too – He is health, taking action, warriorhood, anger, defense, passion, movement. There’s intense Wisdom to be had. Don’t buy into the fear-mongering. Instead, take decisive action to cultivate your health, your boundaries. Put in place the structures and systems to support your health. Simplify everything. Make sure the things you engage are sustainable. Meaning, do these things (work, activities, relationships, people, thoughts, etc) sustain you? And, are you using your resources- time, energy, love, money, etc- sustainably? All of this speaks to integrity. Everything must be in alignment with that version of yourself who is ⚡️potential actualized.⚡️ Face fear head-on. Does it require fierceness? Or absolute compassion and...

International Women’s Day

Women, Female-identified, Feminine- my gift to you I stand beside you, hand in hand. I stand behind you, sword at the ready. I stand before you, clearing a path. I kneel beneath you, helping you gain purchase. I reach down from above, lending a hand up. My heart and yours, beating in harmony. Our hands create, nourish, soothe, heal. Ears to listen, Eyes to witness, Arms to embrace, Smell to discern what is “off” from what is balm, Tongues to speak words of truth… Spirits to craft this world with compassion, Alongside Gaia. ~ Lisa C. Is Negativity Contagious?

I wonder if we have an addiction to complaining? I’ve noticed a lot of people doing a lot of complaining lately. I realize as I listen that I need to check myself to be sure I’m not falling into the same trap of negativity. Some are even complaining about other people complaining! 😳 Here’s what I’d like to offer – clearly, if you/we/I are complaining, something needs to change. You’re/we’re/I’m not happy with something or someone. And, if that’s the case, it’s your/our/my responsibility to make the necessary changes. That might look like voting, or having an uncomfortable conversation, or doing things differently. You/we/I must take responsibility for our own happiness. Life isn’t perfect. It’s varied AF. The variations are what makes it interesting and meaningful. We are so effing privileged we complain about things that probably don’t truly matter in the large scheme of life. We have never known real hunger or thirst. We drink safe, clean water. We have a warm, safe place to sleep. We own more clothes, shoes, books, – STUFF – than most people throughout the world own. (They might have 1-2 pairs of shoes and a couple outfits.) Most of us own cars. Most of us have never had to flee our homes due to the violence of war. I could go on here, but I hope you get my point. Death is but a breath away in any given moment. That person you/we/I’m complaining about may die tomorrow. And when that happens, how will you feel? Will you still be complaining? Will you feel regretful and miss them? What if you lose...

Dying. Over and Over Again.

I underwent serious Shamanic Death in 2015. Everything was stripped from me – health, family, “friends”, work, etc. As I began to understand the enormity of what was transpiring, I would witness as more was leaving, taken, purged, and I would remain detached and curious about the process. I decided to actively partner with the process as I purged and released more, and more. Willingly, even, after a time. It wasn’t easy. But necessary. It was also achingly beautiful. Towards the end of the active process, I made an effigy of myself and all the things about me that I was letting go of. And I buried her. I gave her(former me) a lovely, private burial ceremony. I wept in gratitude. It was quiet, peaceful. So much so, that my next thought became “I have no idea what I just did, but this ought to be HUGE.” And it was. I surrendered to the process and watched as more was stripped away – my home, my business, more of my possessions. And to some extent, my community. Then a sudden, intense AF heartbreak occurred. And I was broken open more than I ever had been in my life. I came to understand that the pain I was experiencing and expressing was the culmination of pain I’d never felt, released, or expressed throughout my current lifetime. And some from past lives. The miracles that flooded in Graced me in such an astonishing way, I’m filled with tears to recall it. I sobbed from pain, from opening, and from gratitude all at once. I easily felt all the pain of the...

Transformation, Shamanic Death and Sovereignty

I am THRILLED to share this potent conversation I had last week with Transformation Goddess Shann Vander Leek on her podcast This Sacred Life. We talked about Transformation, Shamanic Death and Claiming Your Sovereignty – topics that are pregnant with poignancy for most women at this time – especially if you’re in the midst of change or navigating midlife. When we got off our call, we were both BUZZING from the energy. And that feeling lasted all day long! Go take a listen: https://transformationgoddess.com/transformation-shamanic-death-and-claiming-sovereignty-with-lisa-adams If this speaks to you, please share this with your friends. Death Process for the Living

It seems as though I’m becoming an “expert” in Shamanic Death. However reluctant. Shamanic Death is a process of Ego Death wherein everything you know yourself to be, the things you identify with/as, the role(s) you play, the archetype you embody, must die. When this occurs, life is changing on the most profound levels. People leave Job/career change Health challenges No longer enjoying the things you used to love Feelings of uncertainty The systems and structures you once counted on, fail you You recognize ingrained behaviors and patterns and how they’ve directed your choices Sometimes this death process comes as a result of graduation, divorce, birth, the passing of a loved one, menopause, and more. But, that’s not always the case. There are times when we are being called to the next, new expression or iteration of ourSelves. When we must relinquish all that we’ve held dear. When we let go of our entire fucking identity. We may even have mastered our identity/archetype/expression/understanding of ourselves so much that it colors our perspective and how we interact with all of life. It’s our zone of excellence. But, the Universe calls us out. It beckons us into our zone of Genius. It asks more from us. It needs us to show the fuck up in our lives. It needs us to be present and engaged so we can usher in a new way of BEing. A new way of life. A new world. The changes often start out small. Then get bigger. These changes are happening in your life and all around. They appear on the “outside” while inside the rumblings...

We are all dying

Q: What did you do last night? Me: I was in the woods burning stuff with all the other witches. (DUH) But truly, this is the time of year when we honor the dead, pay homage to our ancestors, and let go of our attachments to things that no longer serve us. Blah, blah, blah, right? Heard it all before… Rather cliche at this point. Yes. But, it’s the time of Scorpio. Let’s take this deeper. Much deeper. Acknowledging Death is one of the most important things we can ever do. Death is an absolute. It’s a capital T Truth. Without Death, life has less meaning. Without Death and decay, this 3-D timespace continuum would be utter chaos. It would also be claustrophobic AF. Society fears Death because it’s become so sterile and has been removed from our day to day existence. We run from it instead of facing it head-on. (Ever notice how those facing death who’ve come to accept it without fear have the most peaceful continence and epitomize Grace?) chew on that a bit. Acknowledging Those Who Have Gone Before – the ancestors – keeps us humble, and tethers us to lineage. We come to understand that we are connected to everything and everyone. Our ancestors fought, strived, loved, endured, learned and evolved so that we could be here now, continuing the Cycle of Life. Their good works carry forward to ours. This is legacy. The thing is, American/Western culture isn’t good at making room for lineage or holding sacred space for the stories and customs of ancestors. We’ve lost our sense of Mythos, and as...
Step Outside the Matrix to THRIVE!

Step Outside the Matrix to THRIVE!

You have so much untapped potential inside you! Dear One, It may be summer time, but life is super busy, super crazy – everyone’s rushing around taking care of all the things! Does that sound about right? Ugh. I say NO. That’s not right at all. That’s no way to live a fulfilling life. Society is not set up to help you thrive. It’s set up to make sure you “follow the rules”, that you’re a good little cog in the government/corporate machine, that you’re a good little consumer unit – buying, spending, busy – all while working hard to pay for it all. Staying busy keeps you from paying attention to what truly matters in life, insuring that you’re too wrapped up in all the things you “should” do. When you’re that busy and distracted, the government/corporate Machine continues to indoctrinate you, sneaks behind everyone’s backs with detrimental policy-making, destroying the environment, and exercising “Power Over” the people. If you’ve ever seen the movie The Matrix, then you’ve had a glimpse into this world of illusion that only works to serve the government, the institutions, bureaucracies and the very wealthy. Here’s what I know to be True (with a capital T) – You absolutely DO NOT have to live inside the Matrix and, Life gets MUCH BETTER when you stop following “the rules” I’m not saying you should disobey laws, hurt yourself or others, or go completely AWOL. (though sometimes that has a nice ring to it – like becoming an ex-pat.) What I AM saying is that there are so many choices available to you that you...

Major Astrology and Energetic Aspects

Major Astrology and Energetic Aspects

Pluto is Retrograde and Saturn turns retrograde at the beginning of next week. Here are some themes to be on the lookout through September: Darkness is not bad. It is our teacher. Cocoon. Cave. The velvet womb from which we are reborn. It is the night sky in all of its resplendent beauty – stars, the moon, and stillness. There is a well-known phenomenon called “the Dark Night of the Soul” when an individual (or society) enters a time of deep growth and understanding. It’s a time when all the hidden shadows are confronted and seen, and later healed through acceptance and integration. It means sitting with ugliness, discomfort, shame, and wounding. It’s sitting without numbing, without turning to distractions, or falling into complacency. We acknowledge the dark, ugly truths (or lies we believe) about ourselves, and use that new awareness to make different choices. We must look deep within at the Shadows of our souls to see where we must let go. The most potent magic and alchemy right now (and for a while) is what you are releasing, letting go of, stepping away from, and eliminating. These themes are paramount: Responsibility Integrity Leadership – the kind that feels uncomfortable, not easy or convenient. We must hold ourselves to higher standards if we are to evolve and help heal the Earth Mother. Love, compassion and forgiveness are often the means that bring about the most healing. Especially when applied to oneself. Here are questions to ask yourself repeatedly over the next two years- Q:How can I be more in my integrity? Q:What is clearly not working? Q:How can...

I died

I died

New Paradigm Partnering – walking the path

New Paradigm Partnering – walking the path

**Note – This was originally written in July, 2017 and was updated in September, 2017. As I’ve delved deeper into these themes, I’ve gained more clarity and share those thoughts as an addendum. Stay tuned as I will be sharing much more about this path very soon!   Wouldn’t it be nice if what we wanted and what we needed were the same thing? This could apply to anything in life, but what I’m immersed in exploring right now is how this applies to love. Please don’t take my musings here as indications that I possess answers. I’m sharing in this conversation, offering my thoughts and processes because I get turned on by thoughtful dialogue, and because I see that many of us are contemplating these same themes. I’ve engaged this contemplation for years, and have come to believe that many of us are still stuck in old-paradigm thinking about relationships, as well as what it means to partner, what it looks like, and what it feels like to partner romantically. Even those of us who lay claim to consciousness and live on the fringe.   Old paradigm   We think we have to be in partnership or find “The One” who is our soul mate, twin flame, our forever. The spiritual community is rife with this sort of thinking.   Let’s be honest – we are indoctrinated to grow up, get a job, get married, buy a house, have kids, buy more things…. to live within an old ideal, an out-moded system.   When we marry/partner we have these ideas about what it’s supposed to be, how life isn’t...

It’s a letdown.   We compromise who we are to fit into this idea of partnership that doesn’t fulfill us. It’s a relationship...
Compassionate Guidance for Tough Times

Compassionate Guidance for Tough Times

Dear Ones – the intense AF energy is weighing heavily on us all.   Part of it is the planetary alignments. Part of it is the angry, sad, terrors and atrocities reverberating throughout the world. I’m sorry for your pain and hardship. It’s truly tough right now. We are learning strength through keeping our hearts broken open. I experienced my own breakup/loss in November and experienced the epiphany that the pain you/me/all of us are experiencing is several things at once – It is the pain of the Collective Consciousness. It is the ancient pain buried deep in our DNA It is the pain we never got to feel, acknowledge, process and understand that comes from our early childhood, and from our past lives. Because of the nature of this pain, it is Sacred. Feeling it, staying open in our hearts, and feeling the pain of others, keeps us connected to each other. It also helps us to heal. Here’s an amazing, enlightening quote from Pema Chodron’s “When Things Fall Apart” that illustrates me last point – “This kinship with the suffering of others, this inability to continue to regard it from afar, is the discovery of bodhichitta. Bodhichitta is a Sanskrit word that means “noble or awakened heart.” It is said to be present in all beings…. We awaken this bodhichitta, this tenderness for life, when we can no longer shield ourselves from the vulnerability of our condition, from the basic fragility of existence. In the words of the sixteenth Gyalwa Karmapa, “You take it all in. You let the pain of the world touch your heart and...
Transformation Goddess

Transformation Goddess

It both thrills me and humbles me to share my guest blog post for my friend Shann Vander Leek’s website – Transformation Goddess– chronicling my recent breakup experience. I don’t think I’m more courageous than anyone else, just crazy enough to be open about my shit. Whether that’s wise or foolish, who knows? I’m also grateful to be asked to write and share anything I have to say. My friend Shann has a great platform and following, and she’s openly, fiercely supporting other women and lifting them up. See for yourself – http://transformationgoddess.com/my-broken-open-heart/...

It became about annihilation. She wanted to be destroyed Her defenses torn apart Smashed to unrecognizable bits And ground into dust   She wanted love to Completely undo her Rock her world so hard Shake her up Earthquake-like Leaving her Only one choice – Surrender.   Submission to everything She ever wanted Every desire fulfilled New ones revealed Love’s obedient slave. -Lisa C. For the Michael Age – A message from Rudolph Steiner

For the Michael Age – A message from Rudolph Steiner

We must eradicate from the soul all fear and terror of what comes towards Man, out of the future. We must acquire serenity in all feelings and sensations about the future.   We must look forward with absolute equanimity to everything that may come. And we must think only that whatever comes is given to us by a world-directive full of wisdom.   It is a part of what we must learn in this age, namely to live out of pure trust, without security in existence – trust in the ever-present help of the spiritual world.   Truly, nothing else will do if our courage is not to fail us.   And let us seek the awakening from within ourselves, every morning and every...
You Have a Ministry!

You Have a Ministry!

Regardless of your religious or spiritual beliefs and practices, you have a ministry. And you have an impact on the lives you touch.   Your ministry is made up of your family, friends, people you work with, your community, and strangers you cross paths with through daily activities. It’s your Facebook friends and others you interact with on social media.   Having a ministry means you have responsibilities. It is your job to interact with everyone in ways that are honest, loving, healthy, uplifting, inspiring, and revealing.   It may be something as simple as flashing a smile at a stranger you pass on the street. Or, being honest with your friend about the unhealthy choices they are making. It could even be kicking your addicted adult child out of the house in an act of tough-love.   As you go through your day, everyday, bear in mind the sacredness of each interaction you engage. Check your intentions, and be sure of where you are coming from. Are you coming from a place of Spirit, of love? Or are you coming from a place of fear, ego, and unhealthy patterns?   Spread love, smiles and joy. Be truthful – hold your convictions in a loving way. Don’t judge, but hold an honest mirror of support. Help, but don’t enable. And, if need be, walk away and cut ties, sending love and light in your wake.   The work we do is Holy. Each thought and intention, every word we utter, any action we take – it is all sacred. There are consequences to everything we do. Choose to make...
I stopped singing my song

I stopped singing my song

Yesterday I went to see my dear friend and shaman, Micheal Runningdawn, for a healing session. I was delighted that he seemed drawn to the areas where I feel I’ve been working on healing and resolving for some time now. One of those areas was my throat/ throat chakra. He asked me if I sing or had ever sung, and I told him yes, when I was young, and that I crank music up and rock out in the car, singing at the top of my lungs. He said that what he was *getting* was that I needed to scream my truth, and suggested I write a poem or maybe a song about my saga/drama/situation with my family. And, that it might be a way towards further healing for me. Then he went about the remainder of the session, giving me bits and pieces of helpful information along the way. Later, as I was driving home and rocking out, I thought about what he said. I had an experience/ understanding that occurred to me. It made me cry. I was listening to music and singing along, thinking about singing my truth – screaming it out, writing a song about my situation with my family. I grew up singing. I was incredibly talented from a very young age and sang in chorus in school everyday from third grade on. When I saw the movie Grease, I had two copies of the album and just *knew* that I would grow up to be Olivia Newton-John! Whenever someone would come over, I’d ask to sing for them. It was always the thing...

Prayer for Love and Light at Solstice

I was invited to an annual Solstice gathering and Slava feast hosted by some very dear friends. Part of the invitation was to bring a reading, poem, or something of the like to share. I went through some poetry and books that inspire me, but didn’t find that just “right” thing. Two books I consulted had some “almost right” things. Those books, both by Marianne Williamson, contain lovely prayers I’ve used or turned to many times over the years. As it typical of me, I take parts of the prayers, add my own words and phrasing, and make up the “just right” prayer for me, for the occasion I seek to address. And, of course, true to my nature, that is exactly what I did in this case. While much of what you read is inspired by Williamson’s work, much of it is also my own. I owe her credit and appreciation for the boost in making this prayer what I wanted and needed it to be. I think the power of this prayer is best felt and experienced when read aloud. Enjoy, Lisa <3                   A Prayer for Love and Light at Solstice O great and gracious Divine May there come over this Earth a great and glorious light Changes that would shift this world Away from sorrow, and into peace Away from pain and suffering, and into joy Away from war and hatred, and into love. Please show us how to love. Teach us how to extend our light into the lives of others. Remove from us the barriers...

Kick Ass and Transform Your Life

Kick Ass and Transform Your Life

The following blog was originally written for, and appeared in HolisticDiva’s Summer Solstice Symposium. In preparing to publish it here, I am including more background information as an addendum. The follow-up at the bottom of the post is the most recent update to the writing, the ritual, and the process of my own healing and life circumstances.   I love to see a young girl go out and grab the world by the lapels. Life’s a bitch. You’ve got to go out and kick ass. — Maya Angelou In preparing for this symposium, I started out writing my life story, then realized I was stating the facts without exposing the feelings. I felt devoid and detached from it, even as I am in the midst of deeper introspection and healing of my Core Wound than ever before. Though I’m sure that many of you would identify strongly with my story, I won’t bore you with all the nit-picky details (blah, blah, blah…). I’d much rather encapsulate and distill it all down to the root, then share a kick-ass way to transmute old wounds and patterns to fuel your dreams. At the core of my Work is the desire to heal, grow, and learn in such a way as to ascend well beyond the patterns of dysfunction that I, and my clients, grew up with. I was raised in your typical dysfunctional suburban family (who wasn’t?) And, it became the catalyst for my spiritual growth and transformation. Growing up dysfunctional paved the way for the spirals and layers of knowledge and understanding that is my Core Soul Work. The alcoholic-codependent relationship...

Blue Full Moon in Aquarius Alchemical reading

The purpose of this reading is to decipher the current energies related to the Full Moon in Aquarius, and to guide and inform us on how to best work consciously with energy so that we will benefit. This reading takes us from the Full Moon forward 2 weeks, until the New Moon. The cards are drawn as close as possible to the apex of the Full Moon, and consist of an animal totem from the Medicine Card deck, a card from the Goddess Oracle deck, and a crystal ally from the Crystal Oracle deck. Together, these cards inform our primordial selves with information that has been deeply encoded in our psyche for many lifetimes.   This just happens to be a Blue Moon as well, which amps up the wattage on the power. Taking in to consideration all the other astrological aspects – Venus, Uranus, and Eris retrograde, Saturn in Scorpio, stationing to go direct right as this moon is full – we have a perfect storm of chaos, cataclysmic change, and deep soul excavation. Are you feeling it? Breathe. Trust. On the other side of all of this is more alignment with your dreams, the end of situations that don’t serve or work any longer, and more peace of mind. We began working with Sophia at the New Moon, learning to tap in to our own inner wisdom, identifying patterns, and finding the tipping point where we get to make a different choice, forever shifting the ways we get stuck. Rhodochrosite steps up as our crystal ally, asking us to choose love. When we choose love over judgment,...

New Moon in Cancer Alchemical Reading

The purpose of this reading is to provide insight into the energy of this New Moon, and to inform you of the best ways to work with the energy for the Highest Good. Each Alchemical reading consists of three cards – one from the Medicine Card deck, one form the Crystal Oracle deck, and a card from the Goddess Oracle deck. The overall sense I’m getting from these cards is that it’s time to love yourself fiercely, and to assert yourself more than ever, towards your goals. Ask yourself if your restlessness is better channeled in to rest and meditation? Or taking action and being assertive in your endeavors? New Moons are great times to set new intentions and goals, and work with them for the following 28 days, riding the wave up to Full Moon and back again. This New Moon in Cancer is feeling like a great time to start fresh and build momentum. Here are the nitty-gritty details….   Badger – The power of Badger medicine is the ability to be aggressive and fight for what you want. Badgers have a reputation for being vicious and quick to pounce, tearing their opponents to shreds. Many powerful medicine women have Badger as a totem ally. Badger lives beneath the ground, in a burrow. It therefore sees, and is the keeper of the medicine roots. These roots are the key to aggressive healing as they ground negative energy in to the Earth by allowing it to pass into the ground as neutral energy. Badger has much to say and you should heed the words that resonate most to...

Full Moon in Capricorn Alchemical Reading

The purpose of this reading is to decipher the current energies related to the Full Moon in Capricorn, and to guide and inform you on how to work consciously with energy to capitalize on its benefits. There are some lovely aspects represented here, with heart-opening, new ideas and creative expression, as well as fun, playful energy. Abundance, prayer, and gratitude are also featured. I can hardly think of more favorable aspects than these. Read on for more specific details and information on how to work with these energies.   Bast – Bast represents the life-giving, pleasurable aspect of the Sun, and rules pleasure, joy, music, dance, health and healing, the Moon, and cats (DUH!) She asks if you know how to play and what play means to you? Have you given any priority to playing? It’s likely you’ve been working so hard that you’ve forgotten to give yourself a break to play. Bast is urging you to come and play with her. She teaches that a wonderful way to nurture wholeness is to play. Discover which ways you enjoy playing, and do them.   Chrysoprase – Many wondrous experiences are in store...
Letter to My Inner Child

Letter to My Inner Child

It’s tough growing up, sometimes. You look to the adults to give you what you need and want. But, you must understand that they are in pain, and often unable to cope with life in healthy, loving ways. There are so many things you need to know: Little Lisa, you’ve no idea how loved you are. How smart, beautiful, creative, capable, and special you are and will always be. Your confusion and pain cloud the truth – that you are so dearly loved. You did nothing wrong and are not at fault. Others put the blame on you to divert attention from their flaws and failures. As long as they focus on something else, they don’t have to look at, address , or take responsibility for their own poor decisions and unhappiness. They are not your responsibility, so no blame lies with you. You were only a girl doing your best to be happy despite your environment. Blame is the language of victimhood which doesn’t allow one to take responsibility. Though they lied to you, those lies weren’t meant for you; the sad truth is, they were actually lying to themselves. And they still are. There is a great deal of truth and wisdom in “I’m rubber, you’re glue – everything you say bounces off of me and sticks to you!” The many times you were told that you were undeserving, they were feeling undeserving, and wanted you to be more like them. But the truth is, you deserve everything you want, all the wonderful things that life has to offer. They try and try to make you feel...
Cutting Ties

Cutting Ties

There are times when you just have to walk away – from a relationship, a job, a situation, or even a habit – that is no longer working for you. Some things are easier to quit and leave, others are not. You may have no problem leaving a toxic work environment, but quitting that smoking habit, or leaving that stalled relationship with the bad boy/girl seems to take everything you’ve got. A very helpful way to ritualize and shift the energy around a situation whose end has come, is to cut the cord(s). Ritual alerts the Universe of your intention to make a change. It also speaks to the primal, subconscious part of your psyche where logic isn’t understood, but symbols reign supreme.   In relationships we form etheric cords of attachment. These cords can be loving, healthy connections, or they can be unhealthy, dysfunctional, and/or soul-sucking attachments. Ew! No thank you to the latter. We form energetic connections to places, habits and patterns, people, how we identify ourselves, and just about any situation that makes us feel good or the complete opposite of good. For instance, you may be attached to the place where you grew up, or you may identify yourself as being of a certain political party. You may be the person who always has a smoke in hand, or you may really love your alma mater. I’m using some pretty innocuous examples here, but there are some very ugly, nasty situations that call for seriously kick-ass mo-jo. When there comes a time that you realize that the person/place/thing you once loved, doesn’t feel good any...
Full Moon in Sagittarius Alchemical Reading

Full Moon in Sagittarius Alchemical Reading

The purpose of this reading is to decipher the current energies related to the Full Moon, and to guide and inform us on how to best work consciously with energy so that we will benefit. The cards drawn at the exact moment of the Full Moon are Rhodochrosite, Sheila Na Gig, and Armadillo. Overall, the cards suggest a dichotomy of softening and opening, along with an awareness of boundaries. The greater details lie below, along with some questions to ask yourself, and some exercises to guide you to the answers within. Rhodochrosite – You are being called to examine the traits you don’t like in others, and, instead of judging them as bad, or avoiding them, look at the mirror they hold up for you; what is it that they reflect back to you, that you avoid or dislike within yourself? Cultivate a compassionate attitude and you will soon realize that the judgements we make about others, are the same judgements we make about ourselves. Develop forgiveness towards yourself and others, and see beyond your perceptions of “good” and “bad.” All of life, all relationships, are a mixture of positive and negative,...
Full Moon in Scorpio Alchemical Reading 5/3/15

Full Moon in Scorpio Alchemical Reading 5/3/15

The purpose of this reading is to decipher the current energies related to the Full Moon, and to guide and inform us on how to best work consciously with energy so that we will benefit. For the next two weeks, beware of setting boundaries and taking care of yourself. Also look for means that help you shift your habits and patterns in to new ways of being more aligned with higher consciousness. Set aside time for yourself, to tend to the needs of your body and soul. Be willing and able to say no, and meditate on these cards, and how their messages can be applied to your life and situations as they arise. Snake – The power of Snake medicine is the power of creation. It embodies sexuality, psychic energy, alchemy, reproduction, and ascension. Ultimately, Snake teaches how to transmute energy on all levels. Snake’s shedding skin exemplifies transmutation of the life, death, rebirth cycle – it’s the ability to to experience anything willingly and without resistance. The knowledge brought forth is that all things are equal in creation, and that even poison can be eaten, ingested, integrated, and transmuted, with...

Full Moon Lunar Eclipse in Libra

Here is the Full Moon Alchemical Reading for the Full Moon Lunar Eclipse in Libra. The purpose of this reading is to decipher the current energies related to the Full Moon, and to guide and inform us on how to best work consciously with energy so that we will benefit. This reading takes us from the Full a Moon forward 2 weeks until the New Moon. The overall message of this reading speaks to self-empowerment and slowing down to avoid burnout, speaking one’s truth, and gaining clarity, wisdom, and healing through sharing with members of the same gender. Elk – Elk medicine teaches that pacing yourself will increase your stamina. While you may not be the first one to arrive at your goal, you will arrive without being burned out. And, you will have the energy to further advance your goal. Take care, and don’t push too hard. Often, the longer, slower route allows for situations to resolve themselves along the way. Feed your vitality with good food, rest, vitamins, and the equilibrium that comes from pacing yourself. Elk also have a sort of warrior energy in that they honor the company of their own gender, except at mating time. As you discover the strength and healing...
My Blood Moon

My Blood Moon

My Blood Moon I gathered with SiStars and with Tribe I drummed, I danced, I sang I made my sacred offering to Mother Earth I shed a skin that no longer fit And burned away a persona that wasn’t mine I laughed, I loved, I cried, I hugged I gave and received And I decided to love myself more fiercely than ever...
New Moon-Solar Eclipse in Pisces on the Vernal Equinox

New Moon-Solar Eclipse in Pisces on the Vernal Equinox

The purpose of this reading is to provide guidance and insight about the kind of energy inherent in this powerful astrological configuration. And, to give you some insight as to the best ways to harness and work with the energy leading up to the Full Moon in 2 weeks. Overall, this reading talks of new beginnings, cycles, and working with our breathing to stay centered. Dolphin – Dolphin speaks to you of breathing and the rhythms of life. She tells you that in order to flow with the cycles of your body and of life, you must breathe the life force energy in to your body. Each breath you take infuses life-giving oxygen in to your cells, referred to in ancient cultures as prana, chi, or manna. Dolphins learned a long time ago to use their breath in rhythmic patterns to connect to the Divine energy coming from Great Spirit. Breathwork is also used to break the limitations and dimensions of physical reality so that you may connect to the Divine and bring back gifts of messages, and answers. Be mindful of your body rhythms and the patterns of energy being fed to you from the Divine. Ride the waves with Dolphin, and break the barriers that keep you locked in to patterns that don’t serve you. Tumbled Stones – Today marks a new beginning – a new way of looking at life and the world around you. You are being infused with light and blessings. Relax and allow this wondrous healing to occur. You are a natural born healer who heals through the power of love. Many...

I get intimate – the Divine Feminine Spotlight Podcast

Last month I was interviewed by Shann Vander Leek of Transformation Goddess, for her popular podcast series, Divine Feminine Spotlight. It was a lot of fun, and I shared some very intimate details about my personal life and work. I’d love for you to take time to listen and tell me what you think. You will notice that I make a special offer towards the end of the interview, and I would happily extend that same offer to you, just for listening. Check it out here: My...

Psychic Slime! It’s everywhere!

If you are a sensitive person, and you feel things more intensely than the next person, it is likely you are an empath.   Empaths are folks whose most acute sixth sense is one of feeling. They feel and sense everything – including other people’s energy & emotions, the collective energy of the world, and the effects of environmental ravaging that is happening to our Earth Mother.   They often feel when something is “off” or when there is tension in the air.   If you suspect you are an empath, it’s vitally important to take care of yourself and love yourself, so as not to be overwhelmed by all the feelings and energy that are constantly bombarding you. Before I make suggestions about taking care of yourself, I’d like to explain something I think of as psychic slime, or psychic debris.   Psychic slime is the leftover energy of a negative, stressful situation or person. It is a sticky energy entity that attaches to you in your energy body, made up of your chakras, aura, and other energetic anatomy.   Typically, psychic slime will attach to your aura and you won’t necessarily be aware of it because there are so many things coming at you. And, sensitive people tend to zone out and numb themselves with outlets like sugar, caffeine, alcohol, video games, shopping, and other addictive behaviors, so they don’t have to feel so much.   When our energy body becomes cloudy or weighed down with this dark, sticky sludge, we feel tired, overwhelmed, brain-muddled, depressed, anxious, down, off our game – I could go on here,...

I Hear Voices in My Head!

Lately, as I’ve been working with clients, listening to what they are dealing with and going through, I’ve seen that so much of our unhappiness is self created.   We get caught up in the whirlwind of thought some refer to as the “ego mind,” and we ruminate on why we aren’t good enough, why something will never work, that we “should” do this, or “shouldn’t” do that, and so on, and so on.   Sound familiar?   Hey, we’ve all been there. Many of us live “there,” in that negative head space, or we visit frequently, choosing to limit ourselves and our lives by listening to that voice inside our head. And truly, most of us have more than one of those voices.   It helps to identify those voices – give them names, and, sense where in your mind or body they live. For example, my internal naysayer is named Negative Nancy and she’s in the right side of my head, towards the back, behind my ear. When you locate and identify those voices, it becomes easier to tune in to the voices within you that are your Higher Self, your intuition, your Angels and Guides.   Here’s another thing – a way toward healing. When you catch yourself going down the rabbit hole of self-criticism, see it as an opportunity.   It’s an opportunity to exercise self-love and self-forgiveness.   Self-love and forgiveness are True paths to healing and wholeness, regardless of the origin of the initial pain or trauma.   Treat yourself as you would treat someone you deeply love. Replace those negative thoughts with...

Positive Politics?!

Originally written/posted November 7, 2012   I have the benefit of not watching TV. I haven’t had my TV hooked up to cable, satellite or antenna for 11 years now.   And I don’t miss it.   Most of all, I am happy not to have it around election time, when things get nasty & grown people behave in bitter, ugly ways. Why do elections bring out the worst in people?   It’s good to be passionate about beliefs. It’s good to engage in political debate. It’s good to stand up for what we think is good and true in this world.     But, what is good and true in the world, really?   I can tell you that it’s not getting ugly, being condescending, spouting hatred and lies. It’s not wishing ill-will upon folks that hold differing opinions, beliefs or politics.     It’s fair to say that many, if not most, of us feel that our political system needs an over-haul. It’s fair to say that we all feel depressed, angry, frustrated and condescended to during election time. We could go on & on & on & on about the problems and what’s wrong with the system or this or that politician.   That is easy and we’ve engaged in this conversation for some time now.     I propose another approach entirely.   But first, let me ask you – How’s that hatred working for ya? What good things have come about because of your anger and frustration? Do you feel like your wheels are spinning and spinning and you are getting no where fast?...

You are POWERFUL

Originally written/published October 22, 2012 My dear ones – I love you. ALL of you. I know that many of you are in pain, or suffering from difficulty or very serious health issues. I think of you often and send love & light your way. That said, I would like to share an important thought with you: I will not seek to pity or feel sorry for you, because I *know* that you are POWERFUL. I feel that in so doing, I DISempower you. While I love and support so many of my loved ones who are up against tremendous health issues, I will seek to inform and empower you. Pity & sorrow are not the kinds of energies that lift one higher or engender healing – those energies hold a person in the place of dis-ease and I will have no part in that. I may empathize, love, even cry with you, etc., but you are more powerful than that, and I will always be here to remind you of your power when you have forgotten or misplaced it....

What did you just say?

Originally written/published October 8, 2012   The other day I was giving a massage to an older woman who obviously takes good care of her body, and remarked that I could tell she was doing a good job of it because I can feel the healthy muscle tissue. She responded by putting her body down. She had no health issues, was on no medications, looked good, felt good except for some stress tension, and had no history of disease, surgery, allergies or injuries. I urged her to appreciate her body for its excellent health, not to take it for granted. And there I was, having this conversation with yet another client. So I am going to have this conversation with you, too – LOVE your body!  Yes! Love your body! Tell your body you love it and appreciate all its done for you.Change your language around how you look at your health and your body, and you will change your relationship to it. You will also, most likely, change your health for the better. There are numerous studies and science that proves our thoughts and words impact our cells & the health of those cells. Concepts like neuroplasticity and neuropeptides have been proven to be real, providing an undeniable link between body & mind.    The thing is, our minds & our thoughts can be changed, programmed if you will. When we catch ourselves saying the same negative things over & over again, we program our cells to believe those things. So why not program those cells to be happy and healthy? We do this through the use of...

Love Yourself, Love Your Life!

Originally written/published September 20, 2012   Many years ago, I read a very important book – You Can Heal Your Life, by Louise Hay, the founder of Hay House Publishing. This book is life-changing and, at the time it was published, it was truly ground-breaking. Louise learned through her own struggle with cancer and through working with the AIDS community, that disease and health issues stem from unhealthy or negative mental and emotional patterns. To help heal these issues, Louise found that by using affirmations and positive statements to replace the old, unhealthy ones, people were changing their thoughts, their health and their lives!!! If you were to ask me which book on healing I most recommend, “You Can Heal Your Life” is it.In fact, by just reading the book and doing the exercises therein, it feels like healing and transformation are taking place. After I read it, I began using and working with affirmations and noticed I began feeling more positive and witnessed my life getting better. My thoughts became much more positive and less self-critical. I felt inspired. It was as if my mind had become different, somehow. Like the “ho-hum” thinking switched to “life is good & so am I.” Every copy of You Can Heal Your Life that I’ve ever had, has been loaned out – permanently – to other people. I never get the book back when I loan it someone, and knowing how transformative it is to read, I would never presume to ask for it back. I know that people need it. A few years ago, after attending my first “I Can...

Self-Care

This entire blog is predicated on my belief in Self Care. This is a philosophy I’ve formed over time, but I got the term “self care” from famous author and life coach, Cheryl Richardson. She wrote a book (that I have not read) called, “The Art of Extreme Self Care.” I liked her term, and so have adopted it. Self Care means to take care of oneself, on every level of health – body, mind, spirit & heart. Self Care means doing all the things that you must do to care for yourself. It’s all those common-sense things that we know we should, or must do – things like getting enough sleep, eating healthy food, resting & relaxing, exercise, fresh air, etc. It means having healthy habits and mechanisms by which you care for your self, in place throughout your daily life, to manage stress and tension. It means engaging in activities that bring you enjoyment and allow you to relax. Things like reading, cooking, spending time with loved ones, dancing, listening to music and so on. Self care means limiting your exposure to toxic chemicals, people, food, environments & activities. It means caring enough for ourselves to remove from our environment, things/people/situations/thoughts that cause stress and disease. It also means replacing bad habits with new, healthier ones. Self care is looking to one’s future by doing things in the present moment that promote longevity and a sense of happiness and well-being.One of the reasons I think that our health is so important is because to be healthy is to be happy – without good health we have nothing!...

You are a Minister!

I woke thinking about this. Choose to make your...
